Email Configuration

 

Configuring Email for use at GibbTech

These  instructions are for Outlook 2003 but will work with other email clients with only slight modifications.  You may use the information below to configure MacMail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or any other POP compliant email client. This article will walk you through setting up Outlook 2003 with your GibbTech POP3 account.

 

 
   

First, you’ll want to open up Outlook 2003, then select Tools | Email Accounts, like so:

Choose “Add a new e-mail account”:

On the Server Type page, make sure to choose “POP3” as the server type:

On Internet Email settings, enter in the following information (replacing “example.com” with your domain name):  
   

 
   
Now we need to setup outgoing email. To do this, click on the “More Settings” button, where you’ll be presented with the following screen:  
   

 
   
Click on the “Outgoing Server” tab, and check the box that says “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication)”. Use the default radio button box of “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”:

Click “OK,” and now we’re back to the Email Accounts page. Click “Next>”.  
   

 
   
Click “Finish.” You’re done!

*FOOTNOTE:  You may use either port 25 or port 26 for your outbound SMTP email.  Port 25 is the default port, but some providers block it.  If you are having problems sending email please try changing your SMTP port from 25 to 26.
